This custom created by Patrick Famin is a one of a kind creation. It is the true essence of old world and new.
The blade is Damasteel’s stainless Damascus patterned steel, Damacore® DC21R. The center core consists of RWL34™, a particular successful product with very high strength and toughness combined with extreme edge sharpness. The Damascus patterned outer layers consists of RWL34™ and PMC27™. It has a higher corrosion resistance compared to standard martensitic stainless steels. The two alloys combined in Damasteel’s process gives the Damacore® DC21R a beautiful bright look and a mirror finish core.
The bolster is a beautiful MOKUME-GANE. Mokume gane (mow-koo-may gone-ay) is a laminated metal, made out of non-ferrous (no iron) metal. It is believed to have been first created about 300 years ago in Japan. At this time, Japanese sword making was the highest art form in the country, and mokume-gane was developed to decorate the hilt of the sword.
